It's Upper Body Day

How to Keep Healthy While Staying Home

With all the changes going on in the world right now, nearly all of us are putting in more time at home. It can feel hard to stick with a healthy lifestyle when your gym in Mankato is closed.

You might have changed into the principal, main cook, and parent in your household. Maybe you are working from home for a time and struggling to create some organization throughout your day.

During these uncertain times, it can be appealing to stay on the couch, staring at the news and movie after movie, and casually giving up on a day-to-day workout routine. We may be stuck at home, but we can always focus on ways to preserve healthy habits! Here are our preferred effective activities you can integrate into your changing day-to-day routine to stay active, boost your immune system, and keep momentum toward achieving your wellness goals.

Try Home Workouts

One advantage of spending more time at home is the added space in your daily routine. Think about your schedule. Where can you find ten minutes for a short workout? A successful exercise session doesn’t need to go on forever to be helpful. As long as your heart rate increases, you will find fat and calorie-burning advantages! Try our 12-minute home fitness class you can work on anytime, anywhere!

Involve Your Kids in Your Workout

The pools may not be available, but there are still almost endless ways to create fun projects your little ones will want to do. Because staying active isn’t just for adults! Here are a few of our top fun (and free!) ways the entire family can stay healthy all together:

  • Take the dog for a walk
  • Take a frisbee out in the warm sun (hello Vitamin D!)
  • Go for a bike ride or roller skate adventure
  • Form a floral arrangement with your family’s blooms
  • Play ball in the yard
  • Grab your sidewalk chalk and make a driveway work of art
  • Have a dinner cooking challenge
  • Crank up the tunes and have a dance party

Make Healthy Meals

Are you trying your best to avoid grocery shopping? No problem! Now is the time to make new things in the kitchen and use your available canned goods and frozen foods. With the kiddos on break, long times at work, and the usual household chores, keep your breakfasts, lunches, and dinners straightforward this summer.

At FXB, we make good nutrition easy for our members. Grab your chosen protein kind from the freezer, pick a carb for your side, and include some healthy fat. And you’re done: a healthy supper with no fuss. (And if it’s your fun day, pick up a pizza and sit back!)
